An Experience of Preservation and Evaluation of Documentary Heritage through Digitization

“Manuscriptorium” Project

Abstract

Within the framework of Manuscriptorim project coordinated by the National Library of the Czech Republic, the National Library of Romania started the program of digitizing the most valuable collections of old books and manuscripts. The paper details the methods and techniques used between the two libraries to implement the project, creation of the metadata and description of the books and manuscripts selected. The Romanian contribution to the project reflects the main stages of the evolution of printing between XVI and XVIII century in the historical provinces inhabited by Romanians.
