Abstract

Students of Library and Information Science (LIS students) at Faculty of Philology in Belgrade attend thirteen different obligatory computing courses during the four-years period of their undergraduate studies. In this paper we highlight the content of the programming courses held during the fifth semester. Using Python programming language, students are introduced with basic programming concepts, data structures and
their different applications. We also make a brief preview of other computing courses and suggest how could the gained knowledge be applied in the field of information technologies and natural language processing.
