On the Development of Computer Science among Mathematicians

Abstract

The development of informatics in the contemporary sense at the University of Belgrade, and especially among Belgrade mathematicians, is firmly connected to the procurement of the first reliable computer system in 1968 at the University, the IBM360/44 system, as well as the conception of development of programing as imagined by professor NedeljkoParezanović. This paper outlines the events that led to establishing computer science as an independent discipline in Serbia.
