Abstract: The article deals with general citation analysis of papers of 148 PhD researchers employed at the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences (Belgrade) in 2003. The citation research has been done using Science Citation Index (SCI). The total number of citations and self-citations for all these researchers is 13,252, that is 10,097 citations and 3,155 self-citations. As a rule, the larger the number of cited papers, the larger the total number of citations and selfcitation. Citation analysis has been done by scientific fields and subfields, scientific ranking and researcher’s age. It has been found that the total number of citations increases with time for the investigated period (1962- 2003). The number of cited papers in technical and technological sciences is considerably smaller than that in natural sciences. The total number of citations per researcher in all scientific fields and subfields increases from lower to higher scientific rank. The average percentage of self-citations in relation to the total number of citations, for the given number of researchers and the investigated period, is 23.8%. This percentage is in excellent agreement with the same data in other countries.
